Lileks…

Well, one of my favorite writers is apparently losing his column at the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Instead, they want him to be a reporter and cover the Internet. What a depressing comment on the state of that troubled paper. They apparently don’t know what to do with a writer of his caliber. I have no worries about Lileks himself, as I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities for him, but if newspapers can’t figure out how to maximize their use of an internationally known voice like Lileks, I don’t think you can count on them to maximize any of their other assets, either, which means the decline will continue.

In the meantime, we still have The Bleat, and the store, where you can find all those great books he’s put out. I already have them all, but hey, they’re great gifts so I might pick up an extra or two, just to keep him encouraged as he looks at his options. More books, James! And more parenting stories!
